Tattoos for Diabetics
Last week, scientists developed a non-invasive method of blood glucose testing: a temporary tattoo. The technology, which could provide an alternative to finger pricking – giving our thoroughly perforated fingertips a break – applies a mild electrical current to the skin, forcing sodium ions into the fluid between skin cells. These ions contain glucose.
A built-in sensor then measures the strength of the electrical charge produced by the glucose, allowing people with diabetes to keep a constant eye on their blood glucose levels.
It begs the question – could these temporary tattoos be given by our Healthy services.?
